Remember when life felt simpler, days felt longer, and every moment held a promise?
But in the world today, with its relentless pace, you’re more likely to feel lost… drifting between mere existence and truly living.
But what if you could “slow down time” and regain that lost sense of purpose?
That’s why I wrote the book Creating a Life that Matters.
It’s a book that will guide you on a transformative journey.
To rediscover the essence of life…
To differentiate between merely existing and passionately living…
To find purpose in every breath.
I’m Rabbi Manis Friedman, and I have good news for you: G-d wants you to reach out to Him.
He, in His infinite wisdom, wants nothing more than for you to have a relationship with Him.
In fact, He made this entire world… for you.
That’s what Creating a Life that Matters is all about: the realization that God created existence itself.
But what does it really mean to “exist” anyway?
It’s a timeless question—a question whose answer will give you a life full of purpose and intention in every waking moment.
Here’s a chapter by chapter breakdown of the book… yours free (just pay shipping):
Part One: Get a Life
Living vs Existing: In this chapter, I discuss what it means to exist in the first place and more importantly: Why did God even create our existence? Pg. 6
Life After Death: Do we still exist after death? Find out on pg. 16
The Real American Idol: We tend to think of idol worship as an ancient pagan ritual of the Egyptians or Greeks for example… but the startling truth is idol worship is rampant in western culture right now, and it’s destroying lives. Pg. 32
Is Religion Necessary?: Most peoples’ understanding of religion is in the framework of “What I believe in,” but the truth is that the first rule of living a life of purpose is that it’s not about you. Pg. 60
The Human Psyche vs. Modern Psychology: In this chapter, I breakdown why Freudian philosophy will leave you unhappy, unfulfilled and never satisfied… plus what to do instead. Pg. 73.
The Good, the Bad, and the Inexplicable: The age-old question of Why do bad things happen to good people? has been asked for centuries… but the answer is actually quite simple, yet profound. Pg. 83.
Facts, Truth, and Consequences: Choices are ours to make… but the results of those choices are not up to us. Pg. 96
This chapter leads into what the rest of Part 1 covers: Why Are We Here?
While this question will usually get a long-winded answer without any clear direction.
That leads many people to believing that they’re “here” to become a successful doctor or lawyer, for example.
Well, there’s nothing wrong with becoming a doctor… but that’s not the reason God brought us into this world.
The reason we’re here ties into your purpose, which I discuss in great detail with clear direction for your life on pages 114-117.
Once you’ve uncovered the meaning of life i.e. living a life with purpose, you’ll immediately understand why it’s not just important, but necessary and good to get married.
You’ll also see why so many people today choose not to get married and certainly not to have children… unfortunately.
Part Two: Marriage Matters
The Jungle of Dating: In this section, I discuss how to date with purpose and conviction despite living in a free-for-all dating culture that typically ends in hard breakups and diminishing self-confidence. Pg. 207.
The Comedy of Marriage: Here’s a counterintuitive thought: Men and women are not meant for eachother… Husbands and Wives, however, are inseparable. Discover the difference between being a man and a husband… and between a woman and a wife on pg. 220.
Sexuality and Intimacy: There’s a big difference between pleasure and closeness… Sadly, in our constant pursuit of pleasure in today’s day and age, we’ve lost sight of what makes intimacy truly meaningful and ironically… pleasurable. Pg. 246.
Disharmony and Divorce: While marriage is meant to last a lifetime, there are circumstances that merit divorce. This is the exception, not the rule, however. In fact, there’s no such thing as marrying “the wrong person.” See why on pg 268.
Part Three: Fathers & Mothers & Daughters & Sons
Love, Selfishness, and Self-Esteem: Here’s a toxic idea in modern-day thinking: If children are misbehaving, they need more love and they need more self-esteem.
Well, they’re wrong.
Because we can all see with our own eyes today that children are simply not as happy as they used to be.
See, there’s a big difference between pampering a child and making them feel needed. They need to feel needed… but if they feel that they can do nothing wrong, it’s another way of communicating that they don’t actually matter all that much.
In this section of the book, I’ll show you how to make your children feel needed and purposeful… which starts with you finding your purpose. Pg. 342.
Independence, Identity, and Integrity: Another counterintuitive piece of advice I give parents is to talk to their children like adults.
Talk to them like adults, but don’t treat them like adults.
So, you’re not going to hand over a credit card to a young child, but at the same time, kids want to be challenged. They want to feel purposeful, to live with consequence, and to live with meaning.
If you talk to them like babies, they’ll feel that nothing matters…
